Clayton Shaw Park was hopping last Friday evening, September 14, for the annual Fall Picnic, hosted by the Forsyth Family Organization (FFO). Nearly 500 Forsyth family members (including faculty and staff) enjoyed barbecue from Sugarfire Smokehouse, frozen custard from Ted Drewes, face painting, music, and the ever-popular student Bake-Off competition. The centerpieces, decorations, and Bake-Off entries were all impressively Seuss-inspired. (Stovepipe hat-topped cupcakes or Grinch fruit skewers, anyone?!)
Bake-Off judges (back row, left to right) Chris Thomas, Gerri Meesey, Darel Shelton, Beckii Pittman, and DeAnn Pomatto demonstrated admirable commitment by sampling each one of the MORE THAN 50(!) competition entries. The kids could hardly contain themselves while they waited for the judges to finish. The frenzy that ensued once they were given the go-ahead was truly a sight to see! Congratulations to our category winners (front row, left to right):
Brownies: Grace (Grade 6)
Themed Dessert: Margot (Grade 4)
Cupcakes: Jane (Grade 5)
Cookies: Layla (Grade 5) and Jason (Grade 2)
Extra special thanks to Fall Picnic Co-Chairs (left to right) Kirsten Myers, Kathy Nicholson, and Teresa Caprola for a fun and festive Fall Picnic!
