The Forsyth School Community
FORSYTH IS FOR FAMILIES.
At the elementary level, children love to see their family at school. School plays and assemblies, the living museum expos in Grades 3-6, Grand Friends Day and May Day performances, I Heart Reading Day, and many other occasions bring families together at Forsyth. We welcome grandparents to these events. Parents have many volunteer opportunities at Forsyth through the Forsyth Family Organization (FFO). The Forsyth Family Organization (FFO), an organization comprised of all Forsyth families, plays an active role in the life of the School. The FFO provides a framework for families to meet and become involved with both School functions and personal interests.
The mission of the Forsyth Family Organization (FFO) is to enhance the classroom experience for students and teachers, make people feel welcome and appreciated, create a sense of community for all Forsyth families and raise funds for School needs. All Forsyth parents are members of the FFO, and there are many opportunities to get involved.
There are numerous committees in which parents can become involved to support the School including: Room Parents, New Families Ice Cream Social, Forsyth Golf Tournament, Opening Day Welcome, Grand Friends Day, the biennial Forsyth School auction, Fall Picnic, Winter Skate Break, Community Service, I Heart Reading Day, Green & White Day, Trivia Night, Back to Our Roots native landscape, and more. Many of these events are family traditions, such as Fall Picnic, Winter Skate Break, and Grand Friends Day. Volunteers play an important role in Green & White Day, Forsyth’s all-School field day, a highlight of the year for the kids.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
You’ll find Forsyth parents on the field or on the basketball court coaching sports teams. Grandparents join us on I Heart Reading Day to read to their grandchild’s class. As an independent school, Forsyth is governed by a Board of Trustees, the majority of whom are parents of children in the School. Forsyth parents also serve on Board Committees, lead fund-raising efforts such as annual giving, capital campaigns and plan and host the biennial Forsyth auction that benefits the School’s financial aid program.
